Thursday, August 1, 1918 page 2 DEATH OF SEAMAN SHEATH. - It is with regret that we announce the death, which occurred rather suddenly on Wednesday last, of Seaman "Bertie" Sheath, R.N., the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sheath, Uplands, Crossways, near Ryde. The unfortunate young sailor who was just expecting leave, had an attack of double pneumonia, which terminated fatally after an illness extending over only a few hours. The remains were brought home for interment and the funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, the first part of the Service being held at St John's Church, conducted by the Rev Cyril Blake. The mourners were Mr. and Mrs. Sheath (father and mother), Alice, Lizzie, and Hilda (sisters), Mr Howard Atkins, (brother in law) Mr. James Sheath, (uncle) and Mr. Henning. Beautiful floral truibutes were sent from the following : - "Mother and Dad," "Lizzie and Fred," "Alice and Percy," "Howard and Joan," Mr. and Mrs. Henning and Mont, "Hilda," Mrs. Williams and Maud, "Gran, Phyllis and Walter," Mr. and Mrs. Bishop and Malcolm, Mrs Carnell, "Rose and Ena" and several others.
