Commonwealth War Graves Commission
The CWGC has responsibility for maintaining war graves thoughout the world. Their site contains a lot of information about their services, but more importantly maintains a database of 1.8 million names of people killed during the First and Second World Wars. The database is searchable by name, the returns showing the date and location of death (where known) and the location of the grave.
 
Imperial War Museum
This site covers much of the work of the Museum and includes extensive information about the War Memorials Archive (formerly the UK National Inventory of War Memorials). See the War Memorials Archive website
 
War Memorials Online
A joint venture from the War Memorials Trust, the Imperial War Museum and English Heritage. Ir provides a mechanism for individuals to contribute material about War Memorials using online processes. Introduced in November 2012, and under development.

The site contains a wide range of information and photographic tours.
 
Land Forces of Britain, the Empire and Commonwealth
A comprehensive collection of resources pertaining to the Land Forces of Britain and the former empire in the form of information about countries, regiments and conflicts.
 
Hellfire Corner
A site devoted to World War I, containing news and information, largely about the Western Front, and a selection of essays and articles on a variety of topics
 
Royal Naval Submarine Museum
Includes a comprehensive history of all submarine losses from 1904-1971, many with historical details.
 
The War Memorials Trust (formerly Friends of War Memorials)
This organisation came into being in 1995 to promote the preservation of War Memorials, many of which were, and are, in danger of being lost to the weather and other factors.
