Born : 14 September 1894, Newport.

1901 : John and Elizabeth Yeates, with their children including Francis aged 6, are at 40 Worsley Road, Newport. John Yeates is an Assistant Warder (Convict Service).

1911 : John and Elizabeth Yeates, with their children including Francis aged 16, are at 40 Merton Terrace, Worsley Road, Newport. John Yeates is a Pensioner (Prison Service), Francis Yeates is a Tailor's Apprentice.

Attended Parkhurst / Hunnyhill School

Rifleman 1184 Francis Leonard Yeates, B Coy., 1/8th Bn., Hampshire Regiment, (Isle of Wight Rifles).

Casualty Details :

Died : 12 August 1915 aged 20.

Commemorated at : Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

Rfn. F. Yeates, B Co, aged 20, single, officially reported missing, is the son of Mr. John Yeates, prison officer, of Hunnyhill, Newport. He worked at the Royal Brewery latterly and before served his apprenticeship at Messrs. Osborne & Sons, tailors, Newport.
