1901 : William James McLean, aged 19, is a Private, with the Provisional Battalion & Imperial Yeomanry, Maida & Mandora Barracks, Aldershot, Hampshire.

1901 : Peter McLean, aged 57, is listed at Myrtle Villa, Park Road, Ryde. He is a Retired Police Constable.

1911 : William James McLean, aged 29, is a Sergeant, (with the trade of Shoemaker) with the 2nd Bn., Hampshire Regiment, at Wynberg, Cape Of Good Hope, South Africa.

1911 : Peter and Annie McLean, with two unmarried daughters, are at 27 Albert Street, Ryde. Peter McLean is a Police Pensioner / Caretaker.
