Son of : Arthur Hervey Byng and Florence Fuller Byng (née Maitland) of Wydford, Bellevue Road, Ryde.

Born : 26 October 1872, Portsea, Hampshire.

1881 : Arthur and Frances Byng, with their children including Arthur aged 8, are at Rugby House, Lennox Road, Portsea. Arthur Byng is described as a Capt Irish Militia, Retired, Lieut R. N.

1891 : Arthur M Byng, aged 18, is staying with his uncle and aunt, the Stephens, at Bentworth Lodge, Childer Hill, Bentworth, Hampshire.

1901 : Arthur and Frances Byng, with some of their children including Arthur aged 28, are at Wydford, Bellevue Road, Ryde. Arthur H Byng is described as a Retired Naval officer, Arthur M Byng is a Captain in the Royal Fusiliers.

1911 : Arthur M Byng, aged 38, is staying with his uncle and aunt, the Maitlands, at Stansted Hall, Stansted, Essex.

In the list of casualties at the front occurs the name of Captain A.M. Byng, of the 4th Royal Fusiliers, a son of Captain A.H. Byng, R.N., of Wydford House, Bellevue Road, for whom we feel sure much sympathy will be extended.
