Son of Ranald Michell Alexander (died 1922) and Louisa Eveline Alexander (née Luard) (died 1931) of Ryde. Isle of Wight.

Born 3 April 1883 Paddington, London.

Attended Isle of Wight College, Appley, Ryde.

Married 5 January 1916, Marjorie Michell Courage, at Ifield, Sussex. One daughter, Joan Michell Alexander, born 6 November 1916.

1891 Census : Ranald and Louisa Alexander, with their children including George aged 8, are at Strathallan, Queens Road, Ryde. Ranald Alexander describes himself as "Retired Militia attempting to live on own means".

1901 Census : Ranald and Louisa Alexander, with their children including George aged 17, are at Strathallan, Queens Road, Ryde. Ranald Alexander describes himself as "Living on own means".

1911 Census : George Luard Alexander, aged 27, is a Visitor at the household of the Tryon family at Down Hall, Burgh Heath Road, Epsom, Surrey. G L Alexander is an Architect.

Buried at : ANZAC Cemetery, Sailly-sur-la-Lys, Pas-de-Calais, France.
