Formerly in the Ancient Order of Foresters premises, Ventnor, Isle of Wight IWM War Memorials Archive Record The Memorial is not recorded by the War Memorials Archive Description A hand painted scroll, approx 24" high by 18" wide. It is signed P. Maybee *. A report of the dedication ceremony was printed in Foresters' Miscellany, the AOF's journal, in January 1921, p. 26. Originally in an oak frame measuring 30" by 22" the scroll has been removed from the frame at some point, and is now in poor condition. It is in the care of Dr Roger Logan, the Director of the Foresters Heritage Trust, in Southampton, to whom I am indebted for bringing the scroll to my attention and for providing the dedication report. * Percy Robert Dan Maybee (1883 - 1968) served with the Royal Field Artillery (TF) during WW I and in 1921 lived at 6 Aldgate Terrace, Clarence Road, Ventnor. He was a house painter. |
