Name : Harold William Searle.

Son of William Edward Searle and Mary Jane Searle (née Norris), of 1, Evelyn, Brook Rd., Shanklin, Isle of Wight.

Born 1894, Shanklin.

  Census Information :

1901 : William and Mary Searle, with their children including Harold aged 6, are at 1 Penbrooke, Brook Road, Shanklin. William Searle is a Bootmaker's Assistant.

1911 : William and Mary Searle, with their children including Harold aged 16, are at 1 Penbrook Villa, Brook Road, Shanklin. William Searle is a Boot Salesman, Harold Searle is a Printer's Apprentice.

  Service details :

Rifleman 1962 Harold William Searle, 1/8th Bn. Hampshire Regiment (Isle of Wight Rifles).

Casualty Details :

Died : 12 August 1915 aged 21.

Commemorated at : Helles Memorial Gallipoli, Turkey. (Panel 132)

Jill James for the photographs of Harold Searle. Harold Searle was her grandmother's cousin. Her grandmother, Rose Evelyn Searle, was born in 1901 (June quarter), to Henry and Emily Searle, who, in 1901 were living at 1 Evelyn Villa, Brook Road, Shanklin, close to William and Mary Searle.
