Friday, October 15, 1915 Page 1, column 4 Echoes of the Week Mr. and Mrs. J. Salter, Upper Ventnor, have just received the sad official intelligence that Rifleman Albert Salter, 1/8th Hants Regiment, has died of wounds received at the Dardanelles on September 17th. This is a particularly heavy blow to the family as Mr. and Mrs. Salter's eldest son (*) was killed in action on April 26th. They have another son in the Field Artillery in France. The fullest sympathy will be felt for the family in their further bereavement. |

Further Information :
Mr and Mrs J. Salter's eldest son was James Henry Salter. The other son was Albert George Salter (Driver 45744, R.F.A.) who was born in Ventnor in 1889. He served in a heavy anti-aircraft battery during the 2nd World War and died in Ventnor in 1967, aged 79. Albert Salter was their grandson, the son of Annie Salter. |
