Son of : Arthur James and Clara Melvina James (née Marsh), of "Firwood," Yarmouth Rd., Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight.

Born : 21 Apr 1895, Gunville, Carisbrooke.

Attended Newport County Secondary School.

1901 : Arthur and Clara James, with their children including Arthur aged 5, are at Alvington Road, Carisbrooke. Arthur James is a Milk Purveyor & Market Gardener.

1911 : Arthur and Clara James, with their children including Arthur aged 15, are at Alvington Cottage, Carisbrooke. Arthur James snr is a Dairyman Dealer, Arthur James jun is a Boy Clerk at a Tent Manufacturer.

Sergt 330375 (formerly L/Cpl 1677) Arthur Victor James, 1/8th Bn. Hampshire Regiment (Isle of Wight Rifles).

Entered the Balkans theatre of war on 10 August 1915.
Casualty Details :

Died : 19 Apr 1917, aged 21.

Commemorated at : Jerusalem Memorial, Israel.
