Friday, September 8, 1939 Page 3 Marriage of Miss Amy Wood. A wedding of much local interest was solemnised at St. Mark's Church, Farnborough, Hants, on Wednesday in last week.
The bride was Miss Amy Patricia Wood, only daughter of Mrs. Wood and the late Mr. E.L. Wood, of 6 Blendworth Terrace,
Clarence Road, Ventnor, and the bridegroom was Mr. William Watt, B.Sc., A.I.C., only son of Mrs. Watt and the late
Mr. Watt, of Edinburgh. The Rev. C.R. de Lyons-Pike officiated.
The bride, who was given away by her youngest brother, Mr. Edwin Hall Wood, was charmingly attired in a gown of white satin with silk tulle veil and floral coronet. She carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations. There were two bridesmaids, Miss Vera Nigh, of Ventnor, and Miss Ivy Maskell, of Camberley, both friends of the bride. They wore full length dresses of pale mauve embossed taffeta, and veils to match, with coronets of dark mauve flowers, and carried Victorian posies. Mr. Somerville Johnstone, B.Sc., of Scotland, acted as best man. About 30 guests attended the reception, which was held at Mr. and Mrs. Watt's new home at Cove, Farnborough, and the newly-married couple were the recipients of approximately seventy useful and valuable presents. It had been hoped to spend the honeymoon in touring Scotland, but owing to the crisis and the bridegroom's Service engagements, this had to be temporarily postponed. The bride is well-known locally having been employed for several years in the Ventnor branch of Timothy Whites and Taylors, chemists.

Friday, May 7, 1943 Page 3 Ventnor and the War "Teddy" Wood Reported Missing. Mrs. M. Wood, of 6 Blendworth Terrace, Clarence Road, Ventnor, has received official notification
that her youngest son, Sergt.-Observer Edwin (Teddy) Hall Wood, R.A.F., is missing following
an operational flight over enemy territory. Sergt. Wood had made excellent progress since joining
the R.A.F. in 1940, and part of his training has taken place in Canada and the United States.
An old Sandown Secondary School Boy, he was, before enlistment, in the employ of Messrs. Stibey
and Elderfield at their Ventnor branch.
That reassuring news as to his safety will soon be forthcoming will be the sincere wish of all who know him, and Mrs. Wood will have the sympathy of all in this time if her anxiety, coming so soon after the loss of her daughter in December, last. Mrs. Wood has two other sons, both of whom are serving in the Royal Navy.

"Buckingham Palace. The Queen and I offer you our heartfelt sympathy in your great sorrow.
