Friday, January 5, 1940 Page 2 MARRIAGE WALLER-DIXON. - On Saturday, Dec. 30th, at St. Stephen's Church, Portsmouth, Leading O.C. Charles H. Waller, of Tulse Hill, Ventnor, to Doris Dixon, Cyprus Road, Portsmouth. Page 2 Ventnor Naval Man Married at Portsmouth A very pretty Naval wedding of local interest took place on Saturday last at St. Stephen's Church, Portsmouth, between Leading O.C. Charles H. Waller, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Waller, of Tulse Hill, Ventnor, and Miss Doris Dixon, daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. Dixon, of 11 Cyprus Road, Portsmouth. The Rev. Sergeant officiated, and Mr. Bayswater (organist) played appropriate music before and during the service. The bride was given away by her brother-in-law, A. Gordon, R.N., and wore a gown of white satin in Queen Elizabeth style, with orange blossom, coronet and embroidered veil to match, and carried a sheaf of lilies. The attendants were Elsie Gordon (sister of the bride) and Barbara Waller (cousin of the groom), and four year-old page, Roy Ince (nephew of bride). The bridesmaid's dresses were of green satin with silver sashes and they wore turbans to match. They carried bouquets of brown chrysanthemums. The page looked very sweet in white satin and carrying a large silver horse shoe. The best man was Leading (C) Charles Houghton, R.N., friend of the groom. The reception was held at the home of the bride's sister in Powerscourt Road and between 40 and 50 guests were present. There were numerous presents. There was no honeymoon on account of the bridegroom's short leave.
