Further Information :
Orphaned at the age of nine, Geoff Norris was raised at Ashen Grove Cottages, Gunville by his uncle and aunt, James and Ethel Reynolds. He worked at Fisk and Fisher at St Cross Mill, Newport, before volunteering for the RAF at the age of 18. He was part of the crew of Avro Lancaster LM121, LS-C, of XV (15) Sqn, based at RAF Mildenhall. The aircraft took off at 23.57 hrs to bomb railway yards at Trappes, in France. It was shot down by a German night fighter and crashed at Lormaison (Oise) 20 km South of Beauvais. All the crew are buried at Marissel. |
