Ventnor Resident Feared Lost at Sea

It is feared that Mr. Francis Victor Kinder, of Fairhope, Alpine Road, Ventnor, has lost his life through the sinking, by enemy action, of the ship upon which he was serving as a radio officer. News of the disaster reached Mrs. Kinder on Monday. The last letter she received from her husband came from South Africa recently. It is gathered that there were only some eight survivors.
Mr. Kinder was well-known locally in golf and cricketing circles and as a member of the Conservative Club. All who knew him will hear the report with much regret and will extend to Mrs. Kinder their sincere condolence in her great anxiety.
