Melville Brewer

Son of : Alexander Hampton Brewer and Louisa Schinach Brewer (née Jones), of Hackney, London.

Born : 25 February 1889 (registered Hackney, Jun qtr 1889)

Census information :

1891 / 1901 / 1911 : Alexander and Louisa Brewer, with their family including Melville, are at 136, Richmond Road, Hackney, London, on each of the Census dates. Alexander Brewer is listed as a Medical Practitioner and Surgeon. In 1911, Melville Brewer is listed as an Insurance Clerk.

1911 : Louisa Brewer, with some of her children, is listed at 'Home Rest', Totland Bay, Isle of Wight.

AB Sussex 1/347 Melville Brewer, Howe Bn, Royal Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.

The National Archives gives his rating as Leading Seaman (Disrated Able Seaman).

Casualty information

Died : 4 June 1915, aged 26.

Commemorated at : Helles Memorial, Turkey.
