A SOLDIER'S GRAVE The Cemetery Committee reported having received an application from the Lieutenant Colonel of the Military Hospital, Parkhurst, asking permission to erect a temporary wooden cross over the grave of the late Private A.A. Martin, [sic] and to forego the usual fees. - The Committee recommended that in this case and similar cases permission be given. - Carried. (not all the report has been transcribed) Ventnor Cemetery Burial Register entry : Alfred R Martin was buried on 27 April 1918. Described as Soldier, aged 35 whose abode was given as Afton Mil.
