Pilot Officer George Ernest Rendle, son of Thomas and Frances Rendle of West Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Born in Bradford, Yorkshire. His occupation is given as Storeman on the Australian War Memorial records.
 
P/O Rendle served with 181 Squadron Royal Air Force at Hurn, equipped with Hawker Typhoon aircraft on close bombing and rocket missions in support of the invasion forces on the Normandy beaches. Rendle, flying Typhoon Mk.Ib JR244, was hit by flak and crashed into the English Channel off the Isle of Wight.
