Born : 1884, Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Married : 1908, Lily [sic] Palmer, Register Office, Newport.

Children : John Edwin Leslie (b. 1908); Charles Russell (b. 1910); Leslie George (b. 1912); William Harold (b. 1913).

Census information :

1911 : John and Lily Clarke, with their children, are at Princess Royal Cottage, Cross Lane, Newport. John Clarke is a General Labourer.

Service information :

Lance Corporal 6188 J Clarke, Suffolk Regiment.

Casualty information :

Died : 12 August 1914, aged 29. Circumstances of death unknown. Some records show age at death as 30.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarke; husband of Lilian Osborne (formerly Clarke), of 4, Cross Lanes, Newport, Isle of Wight. Born at Woodbridge, Suffolk.
 
Lilian [sic] Clarke married George Osborne in the Kingston Registration District Dec Qtr 1915. She died on the Isle of Wight, in 1975, aged 90.
