Son of Thomas Philip Cave and Ada Annie Cave (née Woodford), of Newport, Isle of Wight.
 
Born : 1894, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight.
 
Census information :
 
1901 : Thomas and Ada Cave, with their children including Herbert aged 6, are at the Five Bells Inn, Brighstone, Isle of Wight. Thomas Cave is an Inn Keeper.
 
1911 : Thomas and Ada Cave, with their children including Herbert aged 16, are at 78 Carisbrooke Road, Newport, Isle of Wight. Thomas Cave is a Carrier's assistant, Herbert Cave is an Errand Boy.
 
Died at Parkhurst Military Hospital, of pneumonia.
