Richard Giddens is a Soldier (Instructor) (Acting Sgt-Major). Service Information : Served as Lt. and Quartermaster with the 1/8th Bn Hampshire Regiment (Isle of Wight Rifles) during the First World War. Mentioned in Despatches London Gazette 11 July 1941 : Infantry. The undermentioned to be Lts.: - 1st Mar. 1941 : - Maj. (Qr.-Mr.) Richard George GIDDENS,M.B.E. (2754). (appointment date later corrected to 1 Feb. 1941) CWGC record ... Giddens was a retired Army Officer but still on the General List at the time of his death, which is why he received a CWGC record.
