Description

A stone plaque on the wall of the Church Hall of St Michael's Church marks the air raid on the area in 1941. St Michael's Road was named Church Road at the time. Trees were planted in 1950 to mark those who were killed; some trees were replaced in 1992.

This plaque was erected in nearby Swanmore Middle School in May 1993 - no details of this are known.

When Swanmore Middle School was demolished the plaque was stored, and then relocated to Haylands Primary School in November 2015.

See Ryde Borough World War II Memorial for other Ryde names.
