Description

A brass plaque commemorating those prisoners who died while on active service, being on release from their sentences as volunteers.

The Memorial was dedicated and unveiled at a ceremony on Friday, 22nd May 2015 by Major-General Martin White.

The Memorial has not been visited by the Memorials on the Isle of Wight team

Further Information

In the report of the original unveiling ceremony of a Memorial plaque to prisoners who fell, mention is made of a number of ex-convicts being awarded gallantry awards, including a VC, held by a Salford man who served with the 2nd Bn King's Royal Rifles Corps.
