We regret to hear of the death of Sergt. G.W. Bowen, Inland Water Transport, Royal Engineers, at Basra, in the Persian Gulf, on May 23rd. The official information states that death was due to suffocation by immersion, apparently drowning. Sergt. Bowen married Miss Violet Wavell, daughter of Mr. Wavell, of Lake, and they have made their home at 110, Alexandra-road, Grimsby. He formerly served with the R.G.A. at Culver.

His brother-in-law Harold Wavell died in 1917 in Gaza.
