Driver T4/041835 Charles Barton, Army Service Corps attd. 99th Field Ambulance Royal Army Medical Corps.

Enlisted 5 January 1915, Newport, Isle of Wight. Age given 37 years and 180 days. Height 5 ft 6¼ in. Next of Kin was his wife Ellen Edith Barton, and their 7 children were named.

He embarked for France on 12 November 1915 arriving in Havre on 15 November 1915. He was killed in action as a result of shell fire at Guillemont, Somme, France. His body was not recovered.

He was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
  Casualty Details :

Died : 26 October 1916, aged 40.

Commemorated at : Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
