ISLE OF WIGHT MERCURY
Friday, September 20, 1940 Page 3 Ventnor and the War The Late Corpl. Wyles, R.A.F. News of the death in Westminster Hospital of Corpl. Wyles, R.A.F., which we recorded last week, will have been received with deep regret by his former chums in this district. He was the only son of Mrs. Wyles, of Bardalph, St. Boniface Road, Ventnor, and was only 24 years of age. As a boy he attended the Ventnor Senior Council School during the Headship of Mr. S.J. Guppy, and having concluded his education at Ryde, went into the R.A.F. In this he had served over six years and was making excellent progress. Service abroad seems to have undermined his health, and for some time before his death he was at Netley Hospital. The sympathy of all who know the family will be with the bereaved mother and sister in their sad loss. National Probate Calendar 1940 |
