Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Twigge, Steephill Beacon, have received official notification that their only son, Lieut. Alan F. Twigge, 60th Rifles, who was killed in action in Italy on July 12, 1944, has been mentioned in despatches for brave conduct during the war. An intimation to this effect appeared in a recent issue of the London Gazette. The oak leaf emblems associated with this honour, and awarded by H.M. the King, have been received by Mr. and Mrs. Twigge.

Another obituary notice of 27 July 1944 (publication unknown) names him as 'the grandson of the late John Twigge of Liverpool'.
