208 Sqn (Hawker Hurricanes) were based at Burg-el-Arab in the western desert from July to November 1942, supporting the Eighth Army on reconnaisance duties. It is believed that Strachan was shot down in a Hurricane IIc borrowed from 33 Sqn, by OBFW Friedel of JG27. He crashed near Abu Dwels and has no known grave. Prior to WW II Strachan lived with his parents at Tara, Bouldnor. |
