AM1 Kershaw was killed in a bombing raid by enemy aircraft on Malta (HMS St Angelo). He had served with 828 Sqn (equipped with Fairey Albacore aircraft) since 17th November 1940, at sea in HMS Sparrow Hawk, HMS Victorious and HMS Jackdaw. Kershaw had lived in Sandown, Isle of Wight.
