All the crew were killed on a training exercise when in collison with a Lancaster [1] from 207 Sqn while on night fighter affiliation. The crash occurred at 01.18 hrs at Fen Farm, Ruskington, Lincolnshire.

Sgt Dandy had lived at Sandown, Isle of Wight.

All the crew's bodies were returned for burial to their families.
