The aircraft took off at 20.36 hrs from Grimsby and is believed to have crashed on the western fringes of Berlin. Burials are reported at Doeberitz, 24 miles west of the city centre (but not confirmed). Sgt Fox was buried at the Berlin 1939-45 War Cemetery; the rest of the crew are commemorated at Runnymede Air Forces Memorial.

Wilson had been a pupil at Bembridge School.
