LOST NEAR THIS MONUMENT IN DENSE FOG
SUNDAY 6TH MAY 1962
DURING A FLIGHT FROM JERSEY TO PORTSMOUTH
+
FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT IT BECAME MANDATORY FOR ALL
AIRFIELDS HANDLING PASSENGER TRAFFIC TO BE EQUIPPED WITH
RADIO COMMUNICATION AND AIRLINES WERE REQUIRED TO ADHERE TO
AIR MINISTRY APPROVED WEATHER MINIMA.

THIS MEMORIAL WAS DEDICATED ON THE 41st ANNIVERSARY OF THE
ACCIDENT IN THE PRESENCE OF SURVIVORS, RELATIVES, WITNESSES
AND RESCUERS.
