THIS SHEILD IS DEDICATED TO A BATTLE OF BRITAIN PILOT THAT LOST HIS LIFE CLOSE TO THIS SPOT 28/11/1940 IN SPITFIRE N3242 OF 602 SQUADRON HE WAS PO ARCHIBALD PATRICK LYALL AGE 27 ROYAL AIR FORCE VOLUNTEER RESERVE NUMBER 81047 28/NOV/1940 Further Information Archibald (Pat) Lyall was the son of Lt. Archibald Lyall, Highland Light Infantry (killed in action in France, 3rd July, 1916), and Ann Parker Lyall, of Glasgow. B.L. CWGC record ... Pilot Officer Lyall is also commemorated at Brighton (Woodvale) Borough Crematorium. Pilot Officer Lyall is not commemorated on the Battle of Britain Memorial at the RAF Museum, Hendon, London. P/O Lyall is also commemorated on the Battle of Britain Memorial unveiled in 2005 on the Embankment, London.
