Description

An oak plaque naming Members of the Rowing Club who served in the Great War.

From the 1920 Report of the unveiling and dedication ceremony, 10 members who died are also named, and according to the report, their names were enclosed in the laurel wreath; it would seem that the plaque showing F T Mew has been overlaid on these names.

Further Information

The President was Francis Templeman Mew, born 1857, who died in 1922. He was one of the Mew brewing family, and was prominent in Newport affairs. He lived at 'Polars', Staplers Road, Newport.

I am in process of researching the remaining Members whose entries are missing additional information
