Adelaide Grove, East Cowes, Isle of Wight Description The Hospital was built as a Memorial to Frank James, a mariner killed by an elephant in Africa in 1899. It was endowed by his brothers as a home for seamen. Latterly it was used as a cottage hospital for the local people of East Cowes, within the NHS. It has been up for sale since 2004 - possible developments include residential use. |
