Description

A metal plaque marking the meeting place of Lord Randolph Churchill and Jennie Jerome in 1873.

Installed at the base of the Royal London Yacht Club flag pole, in July 2013; unveiled by Randolph Churchill.

The stone plinth was the work of Wight Stonemasonry.

Winston Churchill
His parents Lord Randolph Churchill and Jennie Jerome
First met by chance off here, Cowes Parade, August 12 1873
He proposed at nearby Rosetta Cottage, August 14 1873
They married and Winston was born 1874
This plaque was unveiled after 140 years by
Winston's great grandson Randolph Churchill.
