Historic England Listing Status St Olave's Church is Grade I Listed. Since the Organ forms part of the fittings of the Church, it is assumed that it is covered by the Listing. Description According to the Church history, the church organ was installed after World War I as a memorial to the officers and men of the Isle of Wight Rifles who died in the Great War. The memorial to Capt C G Seely was unveiled on the 2nd October 1922 by HRH Princess Beatrice at a service conducted by the Rev B K Bond, Regimental Chaplain during the war to the Isle of Wight Rifles. The organ was also dedicated as a memorial to the Officers, NCOs and men of the Isle of Wight Rifles at the same service. There is no plaque to mark this on the organ, or in the Church itself. |
