IWM War Memorials Archive Record Link : War Memorials Archive Reference 21747 Historic England Listing Status St Andrew's Church is Grade II* Listed. Since the Memorial forms part of the fabric of the Church, is it assumed that it is included within the Listing. Description A wooden triptych bearing the names of all those Chale men who served (and died) in the Great War. The outer panels of the triptych bear all the names of those who served (Panels 1 and 2 below). The central panel of the triptych bears the names of those who died. The Hymn board in the church is also dedicated to the memory of those who died.

Saturday, February 14, 1920 Page 7 CHALE CHURCH MEMORIALS. - The Diocesan authorities have granted an omnibus facility for the erection of a granite cross in the parish churchyard as a war memorial; the removal of the oaken war shrine from the outside of the church to the west wall inside; the erection of an alabaster tablet, with inscription, memorial to William Margetson Heald, Lieut, R.A.M.C., died in France, 1918, and a brass tablet memorial to Gladys Elizabeth Mary Way. |
